Maktoub #1
New project announcement: Maktoub is now in development. After securing a large part of the budget and completing a location scout in Tangier, Morocco, we’re moving forward with this impact film about abuse, migration and resilience.

A foundation producing and distributing audiovisual projects with social and artistic impact for international audiences.
CineNest is a new foundation collaborating with funds, municipalities and creatives to bring socially urgent stories to life. Its work is guided by three core pillars: Social, Impact and International.
Dedicated to stories that engage with real-world issues without sugarcoating them. These projects focus on what’s actually there, creating space for perspectives that are often overlooked, without pushing an agenda.
Short films are often unseen, too vague or not marketable. We aim to change that. Film is only the starting point, with projects designed to reach audiences through screenings, discussions and broader distribution.
Working in an international context with diverse creatives and collaborators. Many projects are developed and produced beyond the Netherlands, reflecting stories that cross borders and cultures.
One of our current productions is Maktoub, a short film in pre-production to be shot in Tangier, Morocco, created in collaboration with Mamoun Elyounoussi and Kilian Brons. Local production by ShouFou Film. Co-produced by MorocColors.
Logline: "When a Moroccan boy who has suffered ongoing abuse is left alone after the death of his father and is thrown out onto the street by his violent stepmother, he is forced to fend for himself and sees only one way out: to flee to Europe."
